RM Surveys celebrate the opening of new jetty, Town Beach Broome

RM Surveys (Northwest) was engaged by SMC Marine to be the surveyor for the construction of the $6 million jetty groyne promenade.

The new jetty at Town Beach Broome officially opened on Saturday 6th November. The 110m-long jetty will be used by both locals and visitors for activities including land-based fishing, a short-term small boat mooring for the loading and unloading of passengers and luggage. It will be a scenic walkway into Roebuck Bay and a viewing point for the Staircase to the Moon.

Already locally known as the ‘Crocodile’ jetty due to its very different design to manage Broome’s crazy tidal movements of 9 metres between low and high tides.

It has been a challenging but exciting project to be involved with. I and Nathan Hull have enjoyed working in close partnership with SMC Marine to produce this iconic landmark for Broome
